We had streamers, 60 helium-filled balloons, and some great retirement items from Dad's work. We displayed some of those here, along with the memory book which contains letters from family, friends, co-workers to Mom and Dad. Everyone signed the book as they came through the house. Doug miraculously got a hold of these fabulous pictures of Dad from the late 70's when we were in Germany at Hahn. Isn't he a handsome beast?
Out on the deck this table had some yummy slush Rachel made, along with Belian chocolates and stroopwaffeln Doug and Rachel brought to share with everyone. Yum!
We'd been checking the forecast for days before this event, and it kept saying thunderstorms and chilly temps. Well, prayers were answered and we had one gorgeous day. Not too hot, not too cold. It was just delightful.
People started wondering where Mom and Dad were, and I started making phone calls to Chris. He feigned oh-so-well a little bellyache and got Mom and Dad home pronto, where they were greeted by loving guests.
