Camping at Knotty Pine

...or as my kids like to say it: Naughty Pine. This is a beautiful campground in the Unitas. Everything was so green. We took up our tent and met up with Alan, Janna, and Amber. It was a very nice time. Memory-making for everyone, I know.
We went swimming, made s'mores, went fishing, (cheated and watched a couple of movies in Grandma and Grandpa's trailer, ) played games. It was nice to have some extra hands to help out with Matthew. Everyone was happy to take turns entertaining him and keeping him out of mischief.

We had at least one prairie dog which would pop in and out of holes around our tent. And Matthew loved seeing the different dogs that people brought up with them.

Oh, Chad, always goofing off.

Now I get a real one. And here's how you'll catch Grandpa a good portion of the time. I can't say I wouldn't be doing the same thing if I wasn't running around after little ones so much.

The kids did light saber fighting (after watching Star Wars II) and some exploring.

We celebrated Matthew's birthday with the Barnetts while we were together. The older kids were all too happy to help him unwrap his gifts.

Colin is one awesome big brother. Always willing to help and love Matthew.

The putting together of the birthday toy. Always more difficult than it seems (especially with extra little hands).

Matthew thought the cupcake was yummy this time...without frosting.

My lovelies up at Mill Hollow Reservoir. Beautiful!

The kids were all anxious to try their hand at fishing. Grandpa and Chad took over the role of mentors. The boys each have a pole, but the girls were chomping at the bit for a turn. We might have to get them their own soon...

There's Micah excited to catch something!

Grandpa helps Colin out the first time. But Colin is a great caster.

Micah and Ella

And guess who caught the first fish?! Ella got herself a nice rainbow trout. She was thrilled. When we told her she could eat it, she said, "I don't want to eat it, I just want to hold it." And hold it she did. Again and again. She kept pulling it out of the water on it's line and handling her new friend. But we are having it for supper tonight, love.

There she is with her catch. And Mira's shouting something to her that begins, "Ugh! Ella, oh my goodness...!!"

Mira got a turn with Micah's pole. Grandpa was close by to assist. She had a few nibbles, but that's it.

And Micah caught one!

We had a really great time. Matthew did really well, it being his first time camping. The first night was darned cold, but the second was perfect. The kids slept reasonably well. We came back smelling like campfire, very dirty, and a little sunburnt (adults). We're looking forward to doing this again!

Sounds like you guys had fun. You even caught some fish! That doesn't happen too often. Wish we could of been there.

Maren: I can't believe how big Matthew is getting. And why is it that adult ALWAYS forget to wear sunscreen. We will have to remind eachother in Yellowstone.
